DOVER — A mother and son found dead by a family member Sunday morning likely overdosed, city police said.
Dover Police Lt. Brant Dolleman said police were called to a Glenwood Avenue home Sunday at 11:30 a.m., where Lisa Laurie, 55, and Jonathan Brooks, 34, were dead when emergency workers arrived.
Autopsies were conducted Monday. It typically takes several weeks for final autopsy results to be released, Dolleman said.
He said that if the deaths are confirmed as overdoses, they will be the second and third fatal overdoses in the city in 2018.
There were 13 drug-related deaths in the city in 2017, he said.
City police have responded to 11 non-fatal drug overdoses this year, Dolleman said.
