August 11. 2017 8:02AM

MANCHESTER — Passersby are credited with helping a man in a wheelchair foil a robbery when a woman tried to grab the man’s gold chain in the Lincoln Street Plaza Thursday morning.

According to police, the woman allegedly offered the man sexual favors for cash at about 11:45 a.m. at the plaza, bordered by Valley, Lincoln and Wilson streets. When he refused, she grabbed his gold chain and tried to run, police said.

The man was able to grab the arm of Michelle Milardo, 50, of Concord, and yelled for help, police said. Several people in the area came to his aid and helped hold Milardo until officers arrived, police said.

According to a release, Milardo gave several false names to police before she was identified. An officer was able to find the man’s gold chain and three of four gold charms that had been attached to it.

Milardo was charged with robbery and violation of bail conditions. She was scheduled to appear in Manchester Circuit Court on Friday.
