MANCHESTER — An alleged robber was quickly caught Wednesday night helped by the fact he had his shirt torn off as the victim tried to get her cash back, according to police.

The victim told police she was walking on Lowell Street near Ashland Street about 10:45 p.m. when a man approached and offered to walk her home.

After several steps, a man later alleged to be Steven Bussiere, 26, of Manchester, threw her to the ground, choked her, punched her and took cash from her pocket, police said.

The robber fled on foot with the victim in pursuit and eventually catching up to him at Amherst Street, police said. They struggled but the victim was unable to get her cash back but did manage to rip the thieve's shirt off.

The robber bolted shirtless and the victim called police.

Officer Lisa Callahan spotted a shirtless man - Bussiere - several minutes later near the Bridge Street Bridge but without any of the money the victim alleges was taken, police said.

Callahan arrested Bussiere charging him with robbery.  He was scheduled to appear Thursday in Hillsborough County Superior Court North.
