CONCORD — A vandal smashed a granite block near the State House honoring President Donald Trump’s 2016 New Hampshire Republican primary win early Friday morning, according to state police.

After each presidential election, the names of the winners of both presidential primaries are inscribed on blocks embedded in front of the New Hampshire State Library.

Around 7:45 a.m., a capital security officer called state police to the building after finding the block with Trump’s name, the very last in line, smashed.

The pieces were scattered on the grass and on Park Street, according to a statement from state police.

Investigators believe the vandalism took place between 4:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Daniel Livingstone at 603-223-4381 or Daniel.Livingstone@dos.nh.gov.
