Manchester - Saying Manchester has become a "dangerous and disgusting city to live in," Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge Gillian Abramson yesterday said a prison sentence was necessary for Klanesha Landry, the female mastermind of a botched home invasion burglary, because "The general deterrent message is so strong."

MERRIMACK - Police have identified the Merrimack woman who disappeared into the swift waters of the Souhegan River at Wildcat Falls Tuesday afternoon as Susan Bonitatibus, 48, of 12 Edward Lane.
An anti-tax group that aims to curb municipal spending has wrapped up its petition drives in Manchester and Concord, announcing it has collected enough signatures to ensure its proposal will go before voters in both communities this November.

BRENTWOOD - Already facing a felony manslaughter charge, Adam Mentus, 19, (right) has been keeping busy in jail by creating a list of people he wants to "smash" when he gets out, prosecutors say. The list includes the sister of Deidre Budzyna, the 20-year-old Atkinson woman killed last month when a shot Mentus allegedly fired pierced the back of her car seat, traveled through her lungs and killed her, according to police.

PLAISTOW - The New Hampshire Banking Department is taking aim at The Mortgage Specialists Inc. with allegations of fraudulent loans and altered documents at the mortgage company.
The fifth person named in the savage beating of David Mosel was taken into custody without incident Tuesday night in Brockton, Mass. Police said Marcial Crespo, 28, of 289 Central St., turned himself in to Brockton police.
