Bloomy, go home: Billionaire tries to buy NH Senate seat

October 19. 2016 7:17PM

Not content to meddle in New Hampshire’s U.S. Senate race, billionaire bully and gun control nut Michael Bloomberg is now shopping for a state Senate seat.

Bloomberg has spent millions trashing Republican U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte since 2013 for her refusal to buckle to his anti-gun agenda. One of his puppet organizations, Everytown for Gun Safety, is now dropping nearly $100,000 in an attempt to defeat another strong Second Amendment supporter, Nashua Republican state Sen. Kevin Avard.

The Union Leader’s Dan Tuohy reported yesterday that Everytown’s New Hampshire affiliate spent more than $60,000 on digital ads hitting Avard for voting to repeal New Hampshire’s concealed carry requirements. Everytown is also paying for phone banks to attack Avard.

Bloomberg can’t be bothered to get his facts straight. His group refers to the bill as “permit-less carry” but New Hampshire residents don’t need a permit to carry a firearm. At issue is whether they should have to ask their local police chief in order to carry a gun under a coat or in a purse.

Bloomberg’s attempts to meddle in New Hampshire elections are just the kind of constitutionally protected political speech that liberals want to ban, except when such efforts are aimed at Republicans.

We await the outrage from Democrats over Bloomberg spending such an absurd amount on one state Senate race.

Voters from Nashua to Rindge should reject the Manhattan megalomaniac and reelect Kevin Avard.
