DOVER — A city man is facing felony criminal charges after he allegedly impersonated a police officer.
Police officials in Dover say that Ryan Calista, 30, was driving a 2018 Ram 1500 pickup truck equipped with a red and white flashing light and that he was wearing a yellow reflective traffic vest with the word “police” emblazoned across it when he approached a person on Waterloo Circle and asked for directions to Isaac Lucas Circle, where he lives.
That incident allegedly happened around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Earlier in the afternoon, Dover police were advised by law enforcement officials in Kennebunk, Maine, that Calista had been impersonating a police officer there.
Dover police caught up with Calista near his home. He was questioned about the incidents and taken into custody on the impersonation charge and an existing bench warrant from Rockingham County Superior Court.
Calista was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 29.
