Double fatal crash in Canterbury

State police are investigating this scene of a crash that killed two women Friday a off Interstate 93 South in Canterbury.

CANTERBURY — State police identified the two Concord women killed in a one-car crash on Interstate 93 southbound in Canterbury last Friday afternoon.

Nelly Uwituze, 24, was driving the sedan at about 3:18 p.m. when she lost control and veered to the left, went off the roadway and down and embankment before striking a tree with its passenger side, police officials said.

Butonga Zawadi, 25, was a passenger in the car.

Both women died at the scene, police officials said.

The crash remains under investigation and anyone who witnessed it is encouraged to contact Trooper Nicholas Post with State Police Troop D at 223-8953, officials said.

The state Department of Transportation and Canterbury Fire and Rescue assisted at the fatal crash scene.
