Laconia: Seymour takes mayor's race, school board incumbent ousted

Voters chose Mike Seymour (1,421) over Bob Luther (874) for mayor and had several very narrow victories on city council races.

Luther has been a Ward 2 city councilor and is a retired security and police officer. Seymour is a banker who has been a member and chairman of the Laconia Board of Education.

Not running for re-election was Mayor Matt Lahey, who ran unopposed for Ward 2 City Councilor.

Roland Maheu, who was written in in the Laconia primary as a candidate for Ward 6 member of the Board of Education, fell to Joseph R. Cormier (256-194).

The school board race also saw Ward 1 incumbent Charles Tucker lose to Malcolm Murray, 275-206.

Bob Dassatti (1,089) defeated Dawn Johnson (1042) by a narrow margin for an at-large seat on the education board.

In the city council races, only a few candidates ran opposed.

There were races in Ward 1 where incumbent City Councilor Greg Knytych (286) edged Marge Kerns (275).

In Ward 3, Councilor Henry Lipman (354) beat Barry "Stacie" Laughton Jr. (39), while in Ward 4, incumbent Brenda Baer (184) edged Jack Terrill (179).

Ward 6 Councilor Armand Bolduc and Ward 5 Councilor Bob Hamel were not challenged on the ballot.

There were no contested races for Police Commission. Armand Maheux ran for re-election unopposed.
