The executive director of the state Republican Party, Matt Sparks, has resigned after two months on the job to return home to Texas.
“Mr. Sparks resigned effective immediately due to a private family matter and he is moving back to Texas,” New Hampshire Republican Party spokesman Patrick Hynes wrote in an email Tuesday night.
Sparks began his tenure as executive director of the NHGOP on Oct 2. He worked in New Hampshire during the 2016 campaign, serving as a field representative for the Marco Rubio for President campaign, covering Strafford and Belknap Counties.
He has also served as regional director for the Republican Party of Florida and worked for the Dan Sullivan for U.S. Senate campaign in Alaska.
Prior to Spark’s hiring, the NHGOP executive director position was vacant for eight months.
