CANTERBURY — A man was found dead at the scene of a one-car crash near Exit 17 on I-93 at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, after police responded to reports that a car had traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The victim, identified as Gordon Borek, 24, of Durham, was driving a 2009, gray Toyota Corolla. Witnesses at the scene told police he was driving erratically before he drove of the road. The investigation is continuing, but alcohol may have been a factor, according to police.

Boscawen and Canterbury police as well as the Canterbury and Penacook fire and rescue assisted at the scene.

“The public is reminded that seat belts save lives,” said investigating trooper Micah Jones. “This crash was potentially survivable had a seat belt been worn.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Micah at 271-1162.
