PORTSMOUTH - A truck fire and reports of exploding tires Tuesday morning closed all lanes of I-95 North and snarled rush hour traffic.

According to New Hampshire Department of Transportation spokesman Bill Boynton, the fire was reported to state police at 8:24 a.m.

The truck was in the right breakdown lane of I-95 North, approximately one mile south of the High Level Bridge connecting New Hampshire to Maine.

At 8:32 a.m., state police headquarters reported all lanes were closed at mile marker 14.6.

Within a few minutes, the left breakdown lane was reopened.

All lanes heading north were reopened to traffic by 9:21 a.m., according to state police.

Boynton said traffic in the area was affected throughout the morning commute.

He did not have information on the type of truck involved or what it was carrying.
