Wentworth man gets lost, rescued in Easton after snowmobile gets stuck

March 18. 2018 10:01AM

EASTON - Fish and Game officers trudged through deep snow for hours Friday night to rescue a Wentworth man who got lost after his snowmobile got stuck.

The agency was notified about 6 p.m. that Robert Miner, 55, had become lost when he followed a snowmobile track off the trail into an unfamiliar area, according to a news release. He descended a steep incline and his machine got stuck.

Miner started to walk out, but as darkness and fatigue descended, he called for help, the release said.

Conservation officers found Miner and walked him to safety shortly before midnight.

Fish and Game officials said the incident was a reminder to stay on marked trails, ride with a buddy and that it is illegal to operate a snowmobile on private land without written permission from the landowner.

Trail conditions can change swiftly, the agency warned.
