Car splits utility pole, shutting down Litchfield road

LITCHFIELD — A car drove into a utility pole on Page Road Saturday night, splitting it and shutting down the road for several hours, police said.

The driver and passenger were not injured; both had on seat belts, according to police.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which happened at 10:55 p.m. on Page Road between Cutler Road and Albuquerque Avenue.

The force of the impact cracked the utility pole approximately 15 feet up, police said. The road was closed while Eversource repaired the pole.

The crash remains under investigation.
