WALPOLE – A 19-year-old Walpole man had to be transported by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a single-vehicle crash on Route 123 caused serious but not life-threatening injuries.
State police responded to the accident at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday in the area of the Walpole Transfer Station, where they found a 1977 Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a large tree.
The driver, Raymond J. Gosetti, 19, of Langdon, was taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, Zachary Ledrew, 19, of Walpole, was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock by helicopter.
Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the collision, according to police. Gosetti has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and was released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment in Cheshire County Superior Court.
The section of Route 123 in the transfer station area was closed for several hours while the scene was investigated. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact state police.
