RYE — A mail truck crashed into a building on Parsons Road Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officials said the initial investigation revealed the driver of the postal truck suffered a medical emergency, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a large shed next to a home.

Police and firefighters responded at 4:12 p.m. to 31 Parsons Road.

The driver was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

A local wrecking company removed the mail truck from the building, which officials said was a difficult operation.

The Rye building inspector also came to the scene.
