Motorcyclist dies after Franklin crash
FRANKLIN — Police say a Massachusetts motorcyclist died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle accident Sunday morning on Hill Road in Franklin.
Franklin Police Sgt. Daniel Ball said officers responded to a report of a three-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle, an SUV and a car around 10:13 a.m. on Hill Road near Lake Shore Drive.
According to Ball, early indications are that the motorcycle, driven by a 37-year-old man from New Bedford, Mass., hit the SUV head-on.
The man was transported in critical condition to Franklin Regional Hospital, where Ball said he later died of his injuries. Ball would not release the man’s identity Sunday night, pending notification of next-of-kin.
The driver of one of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. Ball said Sunday night that no criminal charges had been issued.
Ball said Hill Road, also known as Route 3A, was closed near Lake Shore Drive for several hours Sunday afternoon as police investigated the accident. The road was reopened as of 5 p.m. Sunday.
