Officials: 'Distracted' teen hits parked car with ATV in Groveton

GROVETON – Conservation officers say a teen suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after hitting a parked car with his ATV Monday in Groveton, after becoming distracted by nearby pedestrians.

According to New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officer Glen Lucas, Elba Hawes, 17, of Groveton, NH was leaving his home on his ATV when he became distracted by pedestrians walking on a nearby sidewalk and crashed into a parked car.

Hawes, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Weeks Medical Center in Groveton for further treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
