MERRIMACK – An 18-year-old who had been riding in a car that crashed on the F.E. Everett Turnpike Sunday night was killed when he got out of the vehicle and was struck by another car, state police said.
Owen Halverson was a passenger in a southbound Toyota Avalon driven by Daniel O'Connor D'Amico, 18, when the car lost control and hit the center barrier just south of Exit 10 about 9:15 p.m., police said.
As the five occupants got out of the Avalon to assess the car, Halverson and the Avalon were hit by a Subaru Legacy driven by Nicholas Beauchemin, 32, police said. Halverson died of his injuries at the scene, police said.
The highway was closed for about four hours while police investigated. State police were assisted by Merrimack and Nashua police and firefighters and the state DOT, according to a release.
Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information to contact TFC Michael Pelletier at 223-8699 or at Michael.firstname.lastname@example.org.
