Police investigate report of shots fired near Manchester park

MANCHESTER — City police were investigating a report of shots fired near a Queen City park Wednesday night.

According to Manchester Police Lt. Joseph Mucci, police responded to the neighborhood near Brown Mitchell park, 229 W. Mitchell St., around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to investigate a report of shots fired. According to police, a caller reported seeing a white male carrying a firearm, while a second caller reported a shot was fired in the area of The Hollows Disk Golf Course, located near Pine Grove Cemetery.

Police determined an altercation occurred between multiple people, during which a white male produced a firearm and fired at least one round, Lt. Mucci said.

A large police presence was reported near the entrance to Pine Grove Cemetery around 7 p.m. Police also blocked access to nearby roads.

Police cleared the area by 8:15 p.m. No further information was released Wednesday night, including whether any arrests were made in connection with the incident, or if anyone was injured.
