ROCHESTER - Police said they are investigating a Sunday night crash of an SUV into a utility pole on Maple Street.

According to police, the crash happened at about 8:23 p.m. Police said Katherine Canney, 27, of Farmington, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer south on the "one-way" portion of Maple Street when the SUV veered into the pole. Police said they are still investigating why the SUV swerved.

A passenger in the SUV, Kyle Hamel, 27, of Rochester, was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital "for reasons unrelated to the accident," police said.

The Explorer had to be towed from the scene, police said, adding that while there was minor damage to the pole, there was "no reported loss of power in the area related to the accident."

Police said anyone with information about the crash can call the department at 330-7128, the Rochester Crime Line at 335-6500 or Text to: CRIMES (274637) Body of Text: TEXT4CASH + your tip.
