PETERBOROUGH — A Monadnock Community Hospital patient who left the hospital Tuesday has been found, Peterborough Police Chief Scott Guinard said.

On Tuesday police reported that a 28-year-old psychiatric patient stole a pickup truck from the hospital campus.

Peterborough police said the woman slipped out of the hospital’s emergency room about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and drove off. Police said they did not know how she got the keys to the 2010 Chevrolet truck.

“She was located in downtown Nashua and the truck was located in the Walmart parking lot in Amherst,” Guinard said.

Guinard said the woman remains a patient at the hospital and the incident is under investigation. He said it is too soon to say whether criminal charges will be filed.

“The truck is the property of the hospital, does not belong to the young lady,” Guinard said. “It’s still an active investigation, still no charges yet.”
