NH conservative groups critical of possible Obamacare rate increases

May 22. 2017 11:21PM

Granite State conservative groups weighed in Monday on a report in the New Hampshire Sunday News that health insurance policies through the Affordable Care Act could see high rate increases in the coming year.

“The latest premium increases under Obamacare will break many families’ budgets. The law is obviously failing working people and is doing far more harm than good. Republicans in Congress are actively working to reform our nation’s healthcare system with a plan that lowers premiums while ensuring folks have access to quality coverage,” said New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Jeanie Forrester.

“Senators Shaheen and Hassan and Reps. Kuster and Shea-Porter have a blind devotion to Obamacare and refuse to negotiate. They are placing the radical fringe of their party above the people of New Hampshire. Sadly, all they have to show for it are crushing premium increases and a crumbling healthcare system.”

“I understand our collective desire to help those in need, but we cannot continue to do so at the expense of higher costs on those that are barely making ends meet. I’m just not sure how much more of our health insurance ‘solutions’ the good people of New Hampshire can afford,” said Rep. Bart Fromuth, R-Bedford, of the New Hampshire House Freedom Caucus.

“Obamacare expansion has now been in New Hampshire for three years, and the results are in. Higher premiums for working New Hampshire residents, hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars spent and the promises of its supporters still have failed to materialize,” said Rep. David Binford, (R-Orford) of the House Freedom Caucus.

“Obamacare is imploding in New Hampshire before our eyes,” said Greg Moore, state director of Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire. “The makes a mockery of the notion of ‘affordable’ health insurance and is one more example of the consequences of this disastrous law. It’s past time for Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Representative Carol Shea-Porter to admit the law they voted for has failed and for them to become part of solution.”
