Dr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Breuder of Bedford celebrated an early 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends on July 18.
Mr. Breuder and the former Elizabeth Jane Frisoli were married on Dec. 19, 1968, in Cambridge, Mass.
The couple have nine children: Tamara of Culver City, Calif.; Drew of West Los Angeles; Paul of Lynnwood, Wash.; Geoffrey of Perth, Australia; Christopher of Roanoake, Texas; Kenneth of Rota, Spain; Jennifer of Baltimore, Md.; Philip of Washington, D.C.; Elizabeth of Port St. Lucie, Fla. They also have 15 grandchildren.
Dr. and Mrs. Breuder began their special day with the celebration of Holy Mass at 3 p.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Manchester. The Mass was officiated by the Rev. Jerome Day, OSB, and attended by eight of their nine children, all 15 of their grandchildren and by many other friends and relatives. During Mass, the couple renewed their wedding vows. Since they originally had a military wedding, the couple tried to reprise this event in a military setting as well.
After the ceremony at St. Raphael, everyone traveled to the Nashua Country Club for an evening of reminiscing, laughter, dining, dancing and cutting of the anniversary cake. Dr. and Mrs. Breuder were grateful to all who were able to attend the celebration, especially two sons who had to travel great distances from Australia and Spain.
Dr. Breuder teaches aerospace physiology at Southern New Hampshire University's College of Engineering, Technology, and Aeronautics, and Mrs. Breuder is very active in pro-life activities as part of NH Right to Life.
Dr. Breuder was the Chief of Staff at the VA Medical Center from October 2000 to July 2015. He retired from the USAF Medical Corps as a Chief Flight Surgeon in 1995.
Mrs. Breuder was a homemaker and board member of NH Right to Life, and currently a founding member of St. Gianna's Place, a developing shelter for homeless pregnant women.
