CONCORD — McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center hosts a Sci-Fi First Friday.

Discovery Center Education Coordinator Sarah Beattie will discuss the earliest “science fiction,” the wild stories created by ancient cultures about constellations in the night sky. She’ll talk about how 19th- and 20th-century science fiction inspired new inventions and pathways in space exploration — and how achievements in space science in turn inspired new directions in contemporary science fiction.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the program begins at 7.
