MARLBOROUGH — Residents were put on alert Monday after Marlborough police warned a flock of sheep had gone astray.
Police got the word out via Facebook, reporting: “There is a FLOCK (herd, gaggle?) of sheep loose and terrorizing grass somewhere in the Frost Hill area.”
While the shepherds were out looking for their animals, police asked anyone who spotted the woolly runaways to contact dispatch.
By that afternoon, police said they understood that the sheep had been gathered up and returned home.
Perhaps they did a ewe-turn.
The post attracted plenty of attention on Facebook.
Comments included: “On the lamb?” “Little bo peep has lost her sheep!” and “They’re out causing chaos and trying to pull the wool over your eyes!”
And to sum it up: “They are reported back home, wagging their tails behind them.”
