What is the best career advice you ever received?

A now-retired principal of North Branch Construction instilled in me the importance of punctuality as a sign of respect to others, as well as doing your research ahead of time in order to always be knowledgeable of the topic at hand.

Why did you choose your profession?

While in high school, I was looking for a summer job to start saving for college. One of my high school hockey coaches was the CEO of North Branch Construction at the time, and offered me a job as a summer laborer. I fell in love with the camaraderie that exists on a construction jobsite, and the feeling of being a member of a team of professionals all working toward a common goal. I also really enjoy driving down the road and pointing out buildings that North Branch has built and saying to my son, “Dad built that.”

What motivates you to give back to your community?

I have always considered giving back to the communities in which we live and work as an investment. The return on this investment is a thriving, healthy, and prosperous community.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

I would tell my younger self to be mindful of everyone who has supported me and thankful for the time they’ve invested in my success.

What would make New Hampshire more attractive to young professionals?

There is an incredible need for more affordable housing in the state of New Hampshire. If young professionals do not have access to housing in the areas that they wish to live and work, then they are not likely going to stay. If you fund it, we will build it!

What would you like to be doing when you’re 40?

Well, 40 is now less than two years away for me, so I guess retirement is out. I hope to spend more time with my family doing the things we love to do together like hiking, skiing, golfing, and playing hockey.

Volunteer activities: ABC NH/VT Board of Directors Chairman, Building on Hope, Habitat for Humanity.
