HOOKSETT — As part of a business strategy aimed at providing more comprehensive shipping coverage to its northeastern customers, A. Duie Pyle, a multimillion-dollar Pennsylvania transportation and distribution company, has opened its first Granite State facility in Hooksett.
The 25,500-square-foot facility, located at 40 Londonderry Turnpike, sits on approximately 7 acres, boasts 6,000 square feet devoted entirely to maintenance of the trucking fleet and is expected to provide 30 jobs for drivers, dockworkers, sales staff, administrative staff, fleet technicians and operations leaders in the area.
Specializing in Less-than-Truckload (LTL) shipping of general commodities for manufacturing, chemical, automotive, retail and other industries, the family owned and operated A. Duie Pyle says the new Hooksett facility is the latest manifestation of its 95-year effort to specialize in the commercial transportation needs of the northeastern corridor.
“A. Duie Pyle delivered nearly 3 million shipments in 2018 and nearly 80 percent were delivered into the busy northeast metropolitan markets,” said John Luciani, chief operating officer of the company’s LTL services. “Pyle has 24 service centers that are strategically located, as well as a diverse fleet of trucks, tractors and trailers that allow us to effectively and efficiently deliver to all northeastern metro markets, including New York City.”
Noting the abundance of available land and location of the parcel near the I-93 corridor, Luciani stated that the Londonderry Turnpike location checked all of the boxes for what the company looked for in its first Granite State site.
“We needed at least 40 dock doors, along with enough land to include a shop on site in the future and shop facilities conveniently located nearby in the short term. Additionally, this Hooksett location is conveniently located close to major highways,” said Luciani. “This location meets all of our needs”
Pyle is still in the process of hiring additional part-time dockworkers, full-time drivers and fleet technicians.
