MANCHESTER -- Michael L’Ecuyer, president and CEO of Bellwether Community Credit Union, was cited for his many community activities in being named Citizen of the Year on Friday, March 8, 2019.

“Mike’s style can be explained with two phrases: passionate leadership and tireless involvement,” Bellwether executive Nathan Saller wrote in nominating him for the annual Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce honor.

“His commitment to local community, his passion for volunteering and his leadership across so many organizations make him an outstanding honoree for Citizen of the Year,” he wrote.

L’Ecuyer, 61, of Bedford, will be feted at the chamber’s annual dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown on April 18.

Married with a daughter, L’Ecuyer is a trustee and past chair of the Palace Theatre Trust, a board member at Northeast Delta Dental and is chair of America’s Credit Union Museum, raising $3.3 million in a national campaign used to renovate and expand museum space and incorporate an industry research library into the West Side location Manchester.

The guy even dances -- winning the Manchester Community Music School’s “Dancing with the Stars” competition several years ago.

Said former Mayor Sylvio Dupuis, who was named the award’s 1979 winner: “Mike is worthy to be honored because of the wonderful skill he has of leading with humility and caring for others while doing so.”
