MANCHESTER — The New Hampshire Tech Alliance announced that Julie Demers has been named the organization’s first full-time executive director. She will start Sept. 3.

Demers has nonprofit experience in membership organizations and event management, and a knowledge of New Hampshire’s business and technology community.

Demers most recently served as the alliance’s technology sector adviser for the NH Sector Partnerships Initiative. In that role, she focused on assisting companies in the Granite State that were facing workforce and training challenges.

She also previously worked at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

“Working alongside our partners across business, academia, and government, she will be an excellent advocate for our members, the tech ecosystem and our state,” said Toral Cowieson, board chairman for the tech alliance.

Matt Cookson from Cookson Communications has served as the group’s part-time executive director since 2010 and will move to an advisory role in September.
