MERRIMACK — Merrimack police arrested a local man late Wednesday night, charging him with attempted assault of a police officer who was trying to break up a fight at a Chinese restaurant, officials said.

Steven McIntyre, 29, faces an arraignment Nov. 29 in 9th Circuit Court Merrimack Division on charges of attempted assault on a police officer, resisting arrest or detention, and disorderly conduct.

Officers responded at 11:29 p.m. to see a fight in progress at the Jade Dragon Restaurant at 515 Daniel Webster Highway, officials said.

McIntyre struck one of the officers with his hand as they tried to intervene, officials said. McIntyre was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

McIntyre was released on personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment next week.
