CONCORD — A Seabrook man got a 50-year federal prison sentence for producing visuals of an 8-year-old girl engaging in sexually explicit activity, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Richard Silvestri, 49, had pleaded guilty last June 15 to two counts of producing child pornography.

Sometime before Dec. 13, 2017, Silvestri used a Samsung cellular phone to produce the pornographic images that he shared with others, federal officials said.

“Protecting children from harm is one of the highest duties of law enforcement,” said U.S. Attorney Scott W. Murray in announcing the punishment for Silvestri.

“Those who abuse children by producing child pornography cause grave harm to their victims and to our community. We will always be aggressive in our efforts to identify and prosecute those who rob children of their innocence by producing child pornography.”The FBI Boston office and Seabrook Police Department investigated the case with an assist from the Rockingham County Child Advocacy Center.

“Mr. Silvestri repeatedly abused an innocent child and with this sentence he’s finally being held accountable for his detestable actions,” said Harold H. Shaw, special agent in charge with the Boston division of the FBI.

“The FBI will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to do everything we can to protect our children from individuals who prey on our most vulnerable.”An undercover agent of the FBI based in Alaska discovered Silvestri’s activities and sent an investigative lead to the Bedford FBI office.
