MANCHESTER — A 27-year-old city man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of Best Buy on Thursday afternoon.
George Johnson was charged with armed robbery and being a convicted felon in possession of a deadly weapon, both felonies, according to a news release from Manchester police.
Police said Johnson took some items from a shelf inside the store shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday and bolted for the exit. When an employee tried to stop him, Johnson allegedly swung a knife and the employee stepped out of the way.
The robber fled the store and police used a dog to search the area, but did not locate him.
Johnson was arrested Friday for the alleged theft of items worth about $2,000, police said.
In a news release, Manchester Police Chief Carlo Capano called Johnson “a person that has clearly not learned from his previous mistakes.”
Johnson is being held on a parole/probation violation pending arraignment on Monday.
