MANCHESTER — A city man, 20, was beaten, robbed and dragged behind a car after agreeing to hang out with a former school pal he’d reconnected with on Facebook.
The victim told police he’d agreed to take a ride with a childhood friend and smoke marijuana on March 10, but reminiscence turned into robbery, according to court documents. The supposed friend and two accomplices beat the victim, robbed him of two firearms, money and marijuana, then dragged him with the car.
Two alleged accomplices were strangers to the victim, but the former friend’s Facebook page was the key for police to obtain photos and identifications of those involved, according to court documents.
Chad Nagy, one of the alleged robbers, waived his July 12 arraignment in Hillsborough Superior Court-North. He’s charged with robbery using a weapon, two counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of unauthorized taking. Nagy, 20, pleaded not guilty and is being held at Valley Street jail without bail. His next court date is July 31.
The others charged are Stone Cooper, 20, of 377 Kimball St., and the victim’s childhood friend, Matt Cotoni, 20, of 158 Dionne St..
According to Manchester police, they were called to 368 Kimball St. about 6 p.m. on March 10 to check the condition of a man who had been attacked.
According to court documents, after reconnecting on Facebook, the victim thought it might be fun to hang out with Cotoni, who then showed up in a car with two others. The victim told police he’d brought 10 grams of marijuana with him and was “showing off” two semi-automatic handguns he carried.
At some point during the ride, according to police, the victim was hit in the back of the head, dragged from the car and punched and kicked in the street.
One attacker allegedly pulled a box cutter during the assault and cut the victim’s finger. Police would later find a silver box cutter in the snow in front of 368 Kimball St.
After stealing the guns, marijuana and money, the men got back into the car to flee, but as they drove off Cotoni allegedly reached out and grabbed the victim’s shirt and dragged him down the street from the moving car.
The victim suffered bruised ribs, cuts and scrapes on the back of his head where he was pistol whipped, and the cut thumb, says police.
