MANCHESTER — A man who caused an accident at the Mall of New Hampshire on Monday morning sped off in the car of a third driver who stopped to give assistance, police said.
Police released a photograph of the man believed responsible, Keon Mercer, 45, of Manchester, and said warrants have been issued for his arrest on a number of charges, including felony hit-and-run, felony motor theft, shoplifting and driving after license suspension.
Police say Mercer was driving a 2009 Nissan Versa at high speed in the lower Macy’s parking lot about 10:15 a.m. Monday when he struck a 2018 Toyota Camry.
The accident caused non-life-threatening injuries to the Camry’s driver, a 67-year-old Londonderry woman.
Mercer got out of his car, abandoning his passenger, a 27-year-old Manchester woman who suffered serious bodily injuries, police said.
Mercer fled in a 2009 Ford Focus that belonged to a Pembroke man who stopped to help.
Both women were taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said Mercer allegedly stole merchandise from J.C. Penney just prior to the crash.
Anyone with information about the accident should contact the Police Traffic Unit at 668-8711.
