A state trooper needed to chase down a man driving 82 mph in a 50-mph zone in a 1985 Chevrolet K10 pickup truck Saturday on Route 3A in Hill, a town northwest of Franklin.

John Carter, 36, of Hill, was charged with operating after certification as habitual offender, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled drug deal/possession of prescription drugs, resisting arrest, reckless operation, disobeying a police officer and unregistered vehicle.
