Stop and Go robbery attempt

Manchester police are looking for a man who they say tried to rob the Stop and Go on Massabesic Street Tuesday morning.

MANCHESTER — Police are looking for a man who they say was armed with a sledgehammer and tried to rob an East Side convenience store Tuesday morning.

Officers were called to Stop and Go, 188 Massabesic St., about 7:25 a.m., where a clerk told them a man, armed with a small sledgehammer, had demanded cash from the register.

When the clerk refused, the man fled, and no one was injured, police said.

The man was described as possibly Hispanic or African-American, between 5-foot-6-inches and 5-foot-8-inches tall, and between 140 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black designs on the shoulders, blue Levi’s jeans and black sneakers, police said.
