MANCHESTER — A man was arrested on a burglary charge after a break-in at Bunny’s Superette early Monday, police said.

An officer responding to an alarm activation at the store at 75 Webster St. around 1 a.m. noticed the glass front door had been smashed and a black vehicle backing up in the parking lot with its lights off, police said in a news release.

The officer followed the vehicle and while speaking with a man who was driving and a female passenger, noticed unopened cartons of cigarettes and beer visible in the car, according to the news release.

The officer asked the driver, James Williams, 43, to step out of the car and noticed he was bleeding from a cut on his ankle, police said. Police also reviewed video surveillance footage and arrested Williams on charges of burglary and operating after a suspension, according to the news release.

Williams was scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court on Monday.
