Manchester man accused of shoving officer

BRANDON LESAGE

MANCHESTER — A city man is accused of shoving a police officer after refusing to leave the scene of an accident, police said Monday.

Brandon Lesage, 19, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said in a release.

Lesage was in the area when two cars crashed near Beech and Somerville streets about 4 p.m. Saturday, police said. Although he wasn’t involved in the crash, Lesage shoved one of the drivers and refused to comply when Officer Meghan Grant tried to stop him, police said.

Lesage pushed Grant as she and Officer Chad Clark tried to handcuff him and continued to struggle after being taken to the ground, the release said.

Officers found 2.5 ounces of marijuana when they searched Lesage and issued him a summons for possession of marijuana, the release said.

Police said it was unclear what caused the altercation between Lesage and the driver.

Lesage is scheduled to appear in circuit court March 8, police said.
