LEBANON — Police say a Milton man was drunk when he pointed a loaded gun at a woman Wednesday night.

Richard A. Stewart, 65, is charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and criminal threatening with a firearm for the incident that took place outside the Baymont Hotel on Airport Road.

Police were called to the hotel around 7 p.m. Wednesday when a woman reported that Stewart had threatened her with a gun, police said. The 53-year-old woman was outside the hotel when the armed Stewart approached her, police said.

Stewart reportedly asked the woman where his wife was, walking right up to the woman and pointing the gun at her head, according to police. The woman said Stewart appeared intoxicated during this encounter, and at one point fell down while still holding on to his pistol, police said.

Police said the woman was then able to get away from Stewart and get back inside the hotel to call for help.

Police found Stewart inside the hotel with a loaded .40 caliber Glock pistol. He was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Stewart is currently free on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Grafton County Superior Court on March 11.
