MERRIMACK — A naked man accused of attacking police officers Friday night outside a hotel in Merrimack was arrested after being subdued with a Taser, officials said.

Richard Chase, 52, of Merrimack was arrested late Friday on charges of resisting arrest, attempted simple assault and indecent exposure, after officers responded to a report of a nude man knocking on doors at the Residences at Daniel Webster, 246 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack.

According to Merrimack police, when officers arrived they found Chase completely naked and walking around the parking lot. According to police, upon making contact with Chase he attempted to punch one of the officers.

The officer was able to avoid being struck, but Chase continued to be “aggressive and combative” toward the officers at which point police deployed a Taser, Merrimack police said.

Chase continued to resist after being struck by the Taser, but was eventually taken into custody, police said.

Chase was then transported to the Merrimack Police Department where he was booked on the charges mentioned above. During the process, police determined Chase was currently out on parole for a past weapons charge, and he was then placed on a 72-hour hold and transported to Valley Street Jail.

Chase is scheduled to appear at the 9th Circuit Court, Merrimack Division, on Dec. 13 for arraignment.
