NASHUA — A mother was arrested Tuesday on charges she sexually assaulted her young child, after police say she initially reported the child’s father committed the assault.
According to police, around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday officers arrested Marilynn Ortiz, 38, of Nashua on a charge of aggravated felonious sexual assault, special felony, stemming from an incident last summer.
Police said that on Aug. 12, officers received a report from Marilynn Ortiz that her child’s father had sexually assaulted the child. Detectives eventually developed information they say indicated Marilynn Ortiz, not the father, had sexually assaulted the child.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Ortiz charging her with aggravated felonious sexual assault, special felony and false report to law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.
Ortiz was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at Hillsborough County Superior Court South on Oct. 17.
