WINCHESTER — A Fenton Hill Road man is being held without bail after he was charged with five counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.
Richard P. Soulia, 57, was ordered held during his arraignment in the Cheshire Superior Court in Keene last week.
Judge David Ruoff found that the current sexual abuse charges, combined with Soulia’s criminal history, including a conviction for physically assaulting a child and past criminal allegations of sexual abuse to be sufficient reason to hold Soulia in jail pending trial.
One of the alleged victims in the current case told police Soulia started molesting her when she was in first grade. The assaults continued for years, she told police, until she was in her early teens.
Soulia, who is employed at a lumber yard in Massachusetts, went free after a 2010 trial on sexual assault charges ended in a hung jury, according to court records.
He was convicted of a misdemeanor assault and received a one-year suspended sentence.
