Pittsfield man charged with robbing state liquor store

Sam Geller, 59, of Pittsfield, faces an armed robbery charge after police and state officials say he came into a state liquor store  Tuesday morning and stole a bottle of liquor.  

PITTSFIELD — A local man pulled a gun and stole a bottle of liquor from the state liquor store in town Tuesday before his arrest a short time later according to state officials.

Sam Geller, 59, was taken into custody a short time after he ran from the state liquor outlet at 6 Water St. with the stolen alcohol about 10 a.m., officials said.

No store employees or Geller were hurt in the incident and there were no other customers inside at the time.

The store was closed for a several hours after the robbery but reopened later Tuesday, officials added.

New Hampshire Liquor Commission's Division of Enforcement, local police and Merrimack County Sheriff's Office investigated, officials said.
