LONDONDERRY — Police arrested Anthony Donovan, 78, of 143K Capitol Hill Drive in Londonderry Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl since she was 7 years old in 2013.
Donovan was charged with five counts of felonious aggravated sexual assault and one count of prostitution.
According to the victim’s allegations in a police warrant, all the assaults happened in Donovan’s home between the summer of 2013 and the fall of 2018. The assaults ended after the victim threatened to speak out.
The victim, who is now 14, told a close family member in mid-January, who shared the information with Londonderry police at the station the following day.
But a pattern of alleged assaults by Donovan happened regularly for five years, according to the victim, who was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center of Rockingham County last month.
The warrant details multiple instances of sexual abuse happening on a weekly basis. Donovan allegedly molested the victim after getting her high on THC oil using a vaping device, and would buy her “promiscuous” underwear.
Det. Ryan Buker with Londonderry police said there are no controlled drug charges pending at this time related to the alleged THC use.
The prostitution charge is the result of Donovan allegedly paying the victim $20 on multiple occasions to perform acts of a sexual nature.
Donovan was arraigned Wednesday at Rockingham County Superior Court.
