Police looking for man who showed gun during armed robbery

MANCHESTER — Police are looking for a man who showed a gun during an armed robbery at a West Side convenience store Monday night.

Officers were called to Rapid Refill, 650 Second St., about 9:25 p.m., where a clerk told them a man had entered, showed a gun and demanded money, according to a news release.

He fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The robber was described as a black male, wearing a green jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt, gray knit cap, black gloves, and dark jeans.

A K9 track was conducted by police but the man was not found, police said.

Newport man tries to escape after being convicted of sexual assault

NEWPORT — The Newport man accused of more than a dozen counts of sexually assaulting children in the 1980s and 1990s tried to escape the courtroom when he was convicted Thursday on two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, according to law enforcement sources.
