Police: Man charged in fatal Gilford crash flunked field sobriety test, was slurring words

Gilford police said the Belmont man driving this pickup truck involved in a fatal head-on crash on Route 11 on Aug. 28 failed a field sobriety test.

GILFORD — The Lakes Region man charged with negligent homicide in connection with last month’s fatal car crash on Lakeshore Road, flunked a field sobriety test at the scene, according to a police affidavit seeking an arrest warrant.

Richard J. Conrod, 47, of 63 Peters Court, Belmont, smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words when he spoke with Gilford Police Officer Lance Rouse, according to the affidavit filed Sept. 11.
