MANCHESTER — Local police have charged a second city woman with instigating a fight between two juvenile girls on Putnam Street last month.
Sarah Rutherford, 19, was arrested Wednesday for her involvement in the fight, which was captured on cellphone video May 23.
Rutherford surrendered at Manchester police headquarters Wednesday and was charged with riot and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court – North on July 10.
Another adult, Mikayla Reno, 21, was arrested last Friday and charged with riot, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and simple assault in connection with the same fight.
The cellphone video of the fight went viral on the internet last week.
In the video, Reno is seen in a light purple T-shirt egging on one of the two girls taking part in what appears to be a staged fight near Parkside Middle School that is about a block away.
Throughout the incident, Reno is seen filming the skirmish on her cellphone.
Reno gives instructions to the smaller of the two juveniles and after she separates the two she is heard saying “rebuttal, square up again” and urges the girl to “uppercut her.”
Police officials did not say whether either juvenile was injured in the melee.
The scene attracted many young witnesses in the video some who were heard encouraging the fight to go on and also seen taking their own cellphone videos of the incident.
