LACONIA – An 18-year-old Amherst woman has been charged with a felony for allegedly driving the wrong-way on Interstate 93 earlier this year.
A Belknap County grand jury this week indicted Jaylen Meas, of 43 Standish Way, for reckless conduct for allegedly driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway on Sept. 9.
About 6:36 a.m. that morning, Meas was arrested in Sanbornton by Trooper Thomas Owens of Troop D. She was charged with DWI, internal possession of alcohol by a minor, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and she was cited for reckless operation.
A passenger, Benjamin Hart, 18, also of Amherst, was charged with unlawful possession/intoxication.
The Class B felony Meas faces is punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt, it means the grand jury determined evidence presented warrants continuing to trial in superior court.
