LEBANON — Police say David Hunt Sr., 47, of White River Junction, Vt., thought he was chatting with a juvenile online when he made plans to meet in Lebanon for sex.

Instead, Hunt was chatting with Lebanon police officers engaged in an operation to target people on social media who they say were seeking to victimize children.

Hunt was arrested Tuesday in Lebanon and charged with certain uses of computer services prohibited, and attempted felonious sexual assault. Both counts are class B felonies.

The Lebanon Police Department is an affiliate of the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and has been working with a social media provider as part of an effort to go after suspected predators.

Last week, Lebanon officers arrested a Windsor, Vt., man who they say came to a Lebanon park to have sex with a juvenile. Jason Bessent, 37, is charged with certain uses of computer services prohibited, attempted felonious sexual assault, and misdemeanor attempted sexual assault.
